WNVCA is a registered charity, and a company limited by guarantee. We are a member of the National Association of Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA) and of Volunteering England the national umbrella organisation for Volunteer Centres. 

 

Aims

West Norfolk Voluntary & Community Action (WNVCA) is accountable to West Norfolk voluntary and community groups and will:

·        Support and strengthen voluntary and community groups

·        Enable the voluntary/community sector to have a strong voice and positive

         influence

·        Provide a focus for information sharing, networking and development

·        Promote and encourage volunteering

·        Establish new and maintain existing partnerships between the Voluntary,

         Community, Statutory and Private sectors

·        Our society as diverse in heritage, background, culture, beliefs, faith,

          sexuality, abilities, gender and age

·        Treating everyone as an individual with dignity and respect

·        A commitment to challenging discrimination, oppression and prejudice

·        Ensuring it works in a way which promotes awareness of the rights of all

          people

·        A belief that our role is to affirm and enable all people to play an active part in

          decision making processes and local action in their community, both

          individually and collectively

·        A belief that priority should be given to working with groups whose

          participation in society is limited by inequitable opportunity or institutional

          discrimination

·        Voluntary activity as a vital part of democratic society

·        Working to ensure that the WNVCA Board, Committees and staff reflect the

          diversity of our society

·        Assessing the needs of current and potential staff and volunteers

·         Regularly reviewing work practices to ensure consistency with policy and

           legislation

·        Premises, equipment and information which is accessible to all people
