Sylvia Cliffe,
Chairman
Sylvia practiced as an Occupational Therapist
from 1963 to 1970 working in all areas of mental health. From 1970 to
1975 she practiced in physical medicine and care of the elderly. The
British Association and
College of
Occupational Therapists
awarded Sylvia a Fellowship in April 2003. She retired on July 4th
2003. Sylvia then became a governor of Eastgate school in 1998 and has
been the Chair of
governors since 2005. |

Mike Brown
Mike is a retired Bank Official who has
been involved in the Voluntary Sector for many years. He currently
serves on WNVCA Finance Committee. Mike is the Treasurer of Mencap
King’s Lynn along with several other
local organisations. He also runs King’s Lynn & District Holiday Play
Group. He is part of the children’s worker team at his church. |

Tim Cara
Tim is a former solicitor who began working in social care in
1994. Tim has managed
the Forward Day Centre since
1998. He is responsible for its rapid growth in size and range since
then, starting with incorporation and charitable registration. The
service is entrepreneurial in culture, and has successfully pioneered
social enterprises in community composting in
Norfolk, and is currently
developing a self-employment project for people with learning
disabilities. |

Marion Coleman
Marion is the current Vice
Chairman and Chairman of the Finance Committee for WNVCA.
Marion is the Operations
Manager and Company Secretary of the
West Norfolk Community Transport Project. |

Margaret
Cook
Margaret was a trained librarian, but
worked most recently in Housing and Community development in London
Boroughs and
Slough. Marion moved to
Norfolk having taken early
retirement in 1999. Currently, as well as WNVCA, Margaret is a Board
member of Broadlands Housing Association. She chairs Difficult Patients
Panel & Dental Disputes for Norfolk Primary Care Trust and chairs
Section 3 Reviews for the Mental Health Trust. |

Gordon Dawes
Gordon
is retired and is the representative of Age Concern West Norfolk to the
board. Gordon also serves on the Finance Committee. |

Tess Glider
Tess manages a Hotel for disabled people on the Sandringham Estate. She
has been a school governor for the past 12 years and is presently
Chairman of governors at KES. She is Vice Chairman of the West Norfolk
Tourism Forum and Chairman of the
Holidays for All consortium.
Tess also attends the British Hospitality Association in East Anglia,
the Advisory committee for people with disabilities in King's Lynn, and
also Soropitimist International King's Lynn. |

Pat
Kavanagh
Pat has worked for the Norfolk
Constabulary where he is currently responsible for minority and ethnic
liaison as part of the domestic violence and hate crime unit since 1988.
He previously served with the Royal Air Force from 1980-1988. Pat is
contracted to the
College of
West Anglia where
he teaches on the Uniform Services National Diploma Course.

John Sweeny
John joined the Royal Air force straight from school and enjoyed a 24
year career starting at the bottom and working up through the ranks as
an electrical / electronic engineer and finishing as a Chief Technician.
John has always been involved in voluntary work mainly working for a
variety of children's charity but also with the British paraplegic team
from 1979 to 1986. He has for the last 6 years been heavily involved in
the Scout Association and is currently the District Commissioner and
Chair of Trustees for South West Norfolk District Scouts which covers a
large geographical area of
Norfolk. |

Anne Truman
Anne trained as a State
Registered nurse at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London. She continued to
work in nursing until she began to work as a part-time lecturer at the
Norfolk College of Arts and Technology in 1984. She took up a full time
post in 1987, and subsequently completed the Certificate in Further
Education in 1990. In 1996 she moved to the Department of Childcare and
Education and was employed as Head of Department until 2000. From then
until her retirement in 2006, she was employed by the Council for
Childcare and Education as an External Moderator. |

Eddie West-Burnham
Eddie took up the post of Chief Executive of West
Norfolk Mind in March 2006. Before this he had enjoyed an eclectic range
of experiences including qualifying as a Psychiatric Nurse, working on
an oyster farm in New Zealand and spending a number of years working in
the USA. He has a BA in Health Studies and MSc in Health Promotion from
King’s College London, where he still works as a visiting lecturer and
has recently been published.
