March 2008
Heacham and Swaffham
Volunteer Centres Closure
I am sure you will all join me
in thanking Karen Lee and Keith Johnson for all their hard work in managing
the 2 volunteer centres at Heacham and Swaffham.
As you know both centres will be closing at the
end of the month. I am sure they will be remembered for their helpful and
cheerful manner.
We wish Keith best wishes for the future.
Karen will be changing her routine,
working one day a week, in the Heacham/Hunstanton areas.
You will find Karen at the Dersingham and
Hunstanton libraries and out and about community. You can contact Karen
through the King’s Lynn
office and we will pass any message on.
The ‘V’ team
The BTCV Millennium Volunteer
project will close from the 31st March and is to be replaced by a
completely new project funded by a National initiative called
‘V’.
The Norfolk Youth Volunteering Consortium,
of which we are a member, has secured funds for a team of 5 to work across
Norfolk
to promote volunteering for the 16 to 25 year age group.
From
April, one member of the team, Lucinda Leonard, will work from the WNVCA
office, developing volunteering opportunities for this age group.
If you need volunteers and can use young people
or have a new opportunity particularly suited to young people then please
let Lucinda know.
Pilot Community Car
Scheme
As part of our Rural Areas
volunteering project WNVCA, in partnership with Norfolk Rural Communities
Council and West Norfolk Community Transport Project, are setting up a pilot
Community Car Scheme for Downham Market and surrounding area.
Initially the scheme will run for a year, and
for it to be a success, it will need both users and volunteer drivers.
If your organisation can use a community car
scheme in this area then please let Chris
England know Tel: 01553 760568
or email: chris@westnorfolkvca.org.
