British Red Cross Volunteers: Interested in any of the following and want to find out more, then call 0845 0547111 or visit www.redcross.org/volunteering.

Home from Hospital Volunteers: Could you help people leaving hospital? Volunteers are needed to provide support, encouragement and a small amount of practical help to patients leaving hospital.

First Aid Volunteer: As a First Aid volunteer you will be part of a team providing first aid services at a wide range of events across Norfolk, often supporting the ambulance service. Improve you first aid skills and help the public whilst attending a great range of events.

Cantech Volunteer Search Dogs: Volunteers are required to provide support to a search dog and handler, helping with communication, health and safety, navigation and general assistance, enabling the handler to concentrate on training. Volunteers are also required to act as missing persons at training sessions.

Forward and Futures: A charity providing services for people with special needs and learning disabilities, they are looking for volunteers to work in the community supporting individuals and groups, and to assist staff members in most aspects of the service, including fitness, crafts, outreach, education, education, leisure and work opportunities. The emphasis is on fun; volunteers are encouraged to take on tasks that they enjoy.

One-to-One Project: Volunteers are required helping and befriending clients, usually in the client's home. The organisation helps clients work towards their goals by listening and giving emotional rather than practical support. Full training and ongoing support is provided in return for a commitment of one hour a week for a maximum period of year.

Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Forums: PPI are made up of groups volunteers in the community who are enthusiastic about helping patients and members of the public influence the way that local health care is organised and delivered. People are needed from the community to help as volunteers. Interested? Then call Wendy Napier, PPI Forum Facilitator on 01603 774325 or email wendy.napier@nvsppifso.org.uk.

Safer Neighbourhood Team – Police Support Volunteers: Police support volunteers perform a wide variety of roles to support established police duties in the community. These include answering the telephone, taking notes at meetings, collating information and supporting Crime Prevention Events, to name just a few.  Help build and maintain community relations by volunteering with the Safer Neighbourhood team.  Call Colleen O’Flynn Assistant Area Human Resources Officer, tele: 01553 665046 or email: oflynnc@norfolk.pnn.police.uk.

WN Befriending Scheme: Have you some spare time each week?  Are you a good listener? The befriending scheme requires volunteers who can lend a listening ear for someone experiencing loneliness and isolation due to age

National Society for Epilepsy: Volunteers are needed to provide information to patients, their families, friends and carers in the Adult and Children’s Epilepsy clinics at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

These are just a sample of the many opportunities we have available. Anyone interested in volunteering can find out more from the WNVCA’s local office in King’s Lynn (16 Tuesday Market Place).
